About this collection

Earlham College was founded as Friends Boarding School by Indiana Yearly Meeting of Orthodox Friends in 1847 to provide a "guarded religious education for the children of Friends." Today, Earlham is a nationally recognized liberal arts college with students from 47 states and more than 60 other countries. Quakers currently are about 15 percent of the student body, and the College remains affiliated with the Indiana and Western Yearly Meetings of Friends. Earlham bases itself on Quaker principles of respect for persons, integrity, peace and justice, simplicity, and consensus governance.
