SAINTS:— I can say this morning that I am saved and all on the altar, ready to do the whole will of God as it is made known to me; and though I have trials to contend with every day, yet I find His grace sufficient all the while, and I am bound, by God's help to live for Him alone. It has been almost two years since I first started to do God's will, and I am deter-mined to serve Him while I live. There are only a few of us here, and we have DO meetings now; and my prayer is that some fire- baptized seal will bp sent in here soon. I feel that great good can he be done here-., Dear saints pray for us. Jane Powell. Stx MILE, IND. DEAD: SAINTS:— I feel led to write my testimony. " Those who think they love God and yet live in sin are deceived." " This cleansing, so far as it is a work of sanctification, is not a momentary act, but a process which God carries forward till it ends in our perfect and everlasting holiness." " All who truly believe, and confess and forsake their sins, will, at the close of their probation, become completely and unchangeably perfect." " Men who think they are are deceived." Out of four strands of this theological carpet there is one hit and three misses. The idea of the blood of Christ cleansing us gradually through all our life, and remov-ing the last bit of sin when we die, is without a single Bible support, and is re-pulsive to common sense. The first and the last strands are in direct contradiction to each other. Such is the muddle and confusion of babylon teaching. We do also in confusion acknowledge that these words do fall upon us from the Lord. Even, " thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets ( Lutheran priests), that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry peace; and he that putteth not in-to their mouth, they even prepare war against him," and drop it from the roll. Perhaps since the world began, we have not had a better delineation of this progress than by the old immortal dream-er of Bedford Jail. Beautiful, " yet . amaz-ing gradations are found in the ehristiali life, " First the blade, then the ear after that the full corn in the ear." This is the simple, yet beautiful- way the blessed word of God speaks of this . pro-gress in its different, and advancing stages. Notice the work on the human heart, and on the final maturity. first repentance and pardon, justification by faith in Jesus, then sanctification and everlasting glory. From beginning to end; these are the won-derful phases of saving grace in the hearts and lives of the children of God- Bat is the highest life, the most Godlike and " useful a man can possibly lead on earth? It is not simply to get good, to be good, nor yet to do good. Nor even to live to save our fellow men: Yea we may be much admired for our goodness, fre-quent charities, yet these will profit us little unless our will is perfectly merged into the divine will. Then ever ' teach me to do thy will, 0 God! Only when we render a perfect obedience, beloved to the bless-ed will of God, will we have attained the highest and noblest life of christian pro-gress in this world. There is nothing a-bove or beyond this, in the true life of the son of Gild. Then and only then, will we be able to say—" I delight to doThy God, and to run the way of thy command-ments." For God's will is righteous, - true and holy. Yet it is perfect and that even forevermore. We shall know thencefor-ward no failure, no lack of doing good, no misgivings at all to ultimate success. For if God's will be ours, fully, faithfully, and forever, He will lead us, defend us, keep and save us and finally give us won-drous success and triumph as His own blessed overcomers. I. N. Kanaga. BURKET, IND., APR. 24, 1889. IN oun last report of the work in the West, we were in the town of Meriden,' Ran., holding up the truth to the people in the name of Jesus, but we are now in Indiana preaching the same truth in the same name. The Meriden ' meeting was one of real success to the salvation of poor lost souls and establishing of the people of God at that place. We commenced meeting Mar. 23, and closed Apr. 14.- During the entire meeting we had good attendance, and good order, with slight exceptions. Pre-vious to our coming to that place to preach the truth to the people, the few of God's true people that we found there were tome- what hindered by the anti- ordinance and false holiness element that came into their meetings at times and assumed lead-ership; but thank God! were made free from both during the meeting. We had but little face to face opposition for the people knew to oppose what we preached was to oppose the truth, there-lore kept still. The most of our opposition came from a so called holiness preacher by the name of J. W. Wyrick. If he even possessed the blessing of justification in his soul, it would be a blessing to the people whereL ever he goes, for such a state of grace will enable a person to bridle his tongue, as in James 3d chapter. He did much to - bin der the work of God. Let all the saints of God refuse to acknowledge all such as being saved, much less ministers of the Gospel, until they truly repent of all their ungodly deeds and. hard speeches against the true faith of Jesus. Hallelujah to Je-sus ! In spite of all falsehoods and evil men, the dear Lord saved poor souls out of all sill and freed the people of God from all such imposition, and filled the littlecompany of saints with much holy fire to enable them to remain- in the order of God. Kilpatrick. BANGOR, APR. 29; 1889. Dear Brethren:— Since my last " News from the Field" my time has been divided between farm work and working - in the vineyard of the Lord. Since coming home from Ind., my work has' been among the Churches at Covert, Van Buren Co., in Lee, and Cheshire, Allegan Co., and Coop-ersville Ottawa Co. At the " Log House," Lee Township, we had a two week's meeting; much: good was accomplished in soul saving and straighten-. ing np, ending in an ordinance meeting, at which 50 saints participated: The Lord was with us in power. Millie Smith gave herself to the- Lord amid much rejoicing among the saints and father and brother. Our work at Covert with dear Bro Michels resulted in some good, but not as much as desired. There were some sincere conse-crations, and the church was encouraged; but we are sorry to say that some are so stubborn that they will neither square up nor get out. May God show their condition At Cheshire and Bro. Smith's in Lee, every thing seems to be in pretty good shape. At Coopersville the Lord saved four or five, and sanctified two. We are glad to say they are in a better condition thanbe-fore. At Coopersville, as ' well as in other places where I have been in the last year, I find much crookedness and prejudice arising from false teaching. The devil un-derstands his business pretty well. If he cannot keep people from standing up straight for God, he will push them oVer backwards. Many souls feel very Zealous ni the cause of God, want - to do all the' good they can, and there is no other way to do it but to preach. Many run before they are sent, hence mischief follows. God does not want people to preach that cannot keep from backsliding every few days; sucn is Henry DoVries. I feel it to the glory of God that the saints at large should understand his- case. It is a general complaint wherever he goes that he works mischief; he seems to be honest many times in making confessions, but he kicks it all over before he gets out of the community. Brethren, do all you can for the salvation of his soul, but it is not sale to countenance him as one of God's min-isters. I do not speak altogether from hearsay; but am personally acquainted with him, and know for myself in regard to his crookedness. We do not believe in publishing individuals of only local inilu-ence; but those who claim to be evangel-ists for the Lord, running all over the country, (" religious tramps") too lazy to work for a living, doing little or no good, burdening the poor saints, causing divis:- ions etc. should be published as imposters. I was glad to meet with Bro. Geo.: P. Wilson at Coopersville. May the Lord bless and prosper him in his labors. A. B. Palmer. —: 0:— SLATER WYO. MLNG, TER. Quite a number of precious souls were delivered from the clutches of the devil, and made free in Jesus. The meeting commenced the 19th, and continued S days. - God was with us in preaching the Word, slaying sin upon the right and upon the left; souls were saved nearly every meeting. During the meeting there were 15 consecrations; for - sanctification, and 11 for . par-don; most of whom were prodigals who had been away from Father's house for a long time. Rev. 22: 5; Her admonition to the saints as they came to clasp her THE RINODOM HAS COME. by kingdom come thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Matt. 6: 10; Thus Christ taught his disciples to pray. We often hear this text quoted in this Manner, " Thy will be done ON earth, a3 it is in heaven." Which is incorrect; " ox earth," changes the meaning of the tsat entirely, and conveys a different mean-ing than that which Christ meant, and so by Tooting it " ON easth," many have rosined the idea that before this prayer is answered, this earth will be cleansed by fire, and Christ will set up a literal king, dom thereon. This is what the Jews and Pharisees were looking for; and Christ being asked by them, " when the kingdom of God should come," he answered them in a manner to give them to understand, that His kingdom was not a literal one, that is, of this world, for so He answered Pilate " John 18: 36;" " and when He was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, He answered them and said, the kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, lo here! or, lo there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within : you." Luke 17: 21. By this the savior did not wish to convey the idea that the kingdom was in the hearts of these Pharisees: but He want-ed. them to understand that when the king-dom did come, that it would be without any outward show, and it would be set up in the heart of mankind; " for the king-dom of God is not in meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, in the Holy Ghost." Rom. 14: 17. And again Paul says: " for the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power;" 1 Cor. 4: 20; by reading the text in Matt. 6: 10; we see that the com-ing of the kingdom and the will being done, stand closely connected. That when the kingdom shall come the will shall " be done in earth" at the same time. Now what about this will being done in earth?" Paul writing to the Ephesians 5: 17, says: " whereforebe ye not unwise, but understanding what the wive of the Lord is," and again in 1 Thess. 4: 3, he says: " For this is the will of God. even your sanctification;" so we clearly see that the will of God is our sanctification," wrought in the soul, by the reception of the Holy Ghost, which is the sanctifie'•. Emu. 15: 16; " by the which will we are sanctified through , the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb. 10: 10; here again we see that the will is our sanctification and. it is wrought in earth as Paul says. " But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,"- 2 Cor. 4: 7; " For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Cor. 5: 1; And again Jesus said: " he that is ' of the earth is earthy," Jno. 3: 31; so we see by connecting the scripture that the kingdo m of God is set up in the soul, when the will! is done " in earth' by the baptism of the Holy Ghost. A kingdom is the dominion of a king and such is our hearts After the great triune God conies in, and takes com-plete posession, for saith the scripture, " know ye not that ye are the temple of G- od, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1 Cor, 3: 16; also, " for ye are the temple of the living God; as God bath sail, I will dwell in tfiem, and w lk in them; and I will be their God. and they shall be my people." 2 Cor. 6; 19; and again the scripture saith: " our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost, n * n and we are not our own." 1 Cor. 6: 10; so the kingdom of God has come; Matt. 6: 10; the has been clone " in earth," this prayer was answered on the day of Pentecost, when the great " Hagion Para-kletos" ( holy spirit) came with consum-ing lire and took up his abode with them. Surely God has wrought a great work here in this country. A little over a year ago the people were drunk on babylon wine; but the Gospel of Jesus Christ was preached, and a few souls saw where they were drifting and accepted salvation. But when the Word was preached and the standard of salvation raised to a Bible standard, they found that the holy ministers chid not try to please man, but preached the straight W ord. Some would not come to meeting any more. God has a little band of saints here who are out on the straight line of holiness, and do not shun to declare the whole counsel of God. On the 14th of April we commenced Sunday- school in the name of King Jesus. Let all the dear saints pray for us that we may be useful in this great work of salvation. D. 1880, in the house of wor-ship, and there heartily repent of all their sins, and cry mightily unto God Ihr mercy, so that if it be possible t he iniquity of our sins may be forgiven us. It. shall also be the duty of all the mem-beis to give neither money, food nor rai-ment unto any of our pastors, nor even lodge them in our houses, until they shall have heartily repented of their sins, and become thoroughly regenerated and sanc-tified unto God. Any member that is unable to come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, if he or she will seek God at their homes, and attain unto salvation, can inform the Church of the glad tidings by letter to J. E. Any one failing to comply With either of these specifications for the space of one year, shall, by virtue of that, stand sus-ed with the rich things of God, which have been revealed to us through the Spirit. Now our affections are placed on things above, and our conversation is in heaven. And we have received Christ as our wisdom, righteousness, redemption, and our all in all. At the " Log House" Lee Township, we had a two week's meeting; much: good was accomplished in soul saving and straighten-. ing np, ending in an ordinance meeting, at which 50 saints participated: The Lord was with us in power. MLNG, TER. Rev. 22: 5; Her admonition to the saints as they came to clasp her THE RINODOM HAS COME. by kingdom come thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Matt. 6: 10; Thus Christ taught his disciples to pray. We often hear this text quoted in this Manner, " Thy will be done ON earth, a3 it is in heaven." Which is incorrect; " ox earth" changes the meaning of the tsat entirely, and conveys a different mean-ing than that which Christ meant, and so by Tooting it " ON easth" many have rosined the idea that before this prayer is answered, this earth will be cleansed by fire, and Christ will set up a literal king, dom thereon. This is what the Jews and Pharisees were looking for; and Christ being asked by them, " when the kingdom of God should come" he answered them in a manner to give them to understand, that His kingdom was not a literal one, that is, of this world, for so He answered Pilate " John 18: 36;" " and when He was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, He answered them and said, the kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, lo here! or, lo there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within : you." Luke 17: 21. Now what about this will being done in earth?" Paul writing to the Ephesians 5: 17, says: " whereforebe ye not unwise, but understanding what the wive of the Lord is" and again in 1 Thess. 4: 3, he says: " For this is the will of God. even your sanctification;" so we clearly see that the will of God is our sanctification" wrought in the soul, by the reception of the Holy Ghost, which is the sanctifie'•. Emu. 15: 16; " by the which will we are sanctified through , the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb. 10: 10; here again we see that the will is our sanctification and. it is wrought in earth as Paul says. " But we have this treasure in earthen vessels"- 2 Cor. 4: 7; " For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Cor. 5: 1; And again Jesus said: " he that is ' of the earth is earthy" Jno. 6: 10; the has been clone " in earth" this prayer was answered on the day of Pentecost, when the great " Hagion Para-kletos" ( holy spirit) came with consum-ing lire and took up his abode with them.
