The eyes, too, are anointed with eye- salve, so . all things can be seen clearly. The glories in the new kingdom are so brilliant, the beauties so rare and attractive, and all so luminous that the eyes must have the holy anointing in order to see and admire all the beauties of this holy sanctuary. In him we look in love and pity on all humanity. We love our neighbor as ourselves. We love our enemies, because we love through Jesus, who died for all. We do not only love our own but all mankind. We pray for all alike, for it is not ourselves that pray, but the Holy Spirit praying through us, ' making intercessions according to the will of God,' " who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." So when in him, we are concerned about his kingdom; for it is now ours, and we try to get all interested in this kingdom we can. We are eager to tell others of the riches we find in him. Also to run on errands of love and mercy, with the rays of his love and sunshine in us continually. Now that we are in his kingdom and enjoying the riches thereof, we must not forget that we are his, and that he expects perfect obedience and loyalty on our part. We now are no more our own; " we are bought with a price, and we are to glorify God in our bodies, which are his." No more are we to run according to our own mind and desires; but, " Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?" It is no more I, but Christ. How I shall please him, and what is his highest will and pleasure? How can I use the new health and strength to his best good and glory? Every thought and act now is for him. No more shall my talents, time, or money be used on self or my pleasure, but all for him at his bidding. Fully and completely his.' Come, sinner, open the door of your heart while he is knocking. Invite him in as an abiding guest. He is waiting to enter in. Give him the chance. Then you too can enjoy the riches of his kingdom. Come, believe, enter into the holy of holies. It is your privilege, also a command. Why linger any longer near the border? Get into the secret of his presence, under the shadow of his wing; for in him only we find rest. T HE Devil comes again, this time surrounded by an army under the influence of the slimiest of - the three spirits of devils that emanate from the mouth of the beast. The most devilish scheme concocted in the abyss of damna-tion, is now manifesting itself. This agent of destruction we will denominate, Social-ism and Union on a False Basis. Christ has not changed nor has his mi. - mutable Word undergone any alterations. But man, becoming alienated from the " Father of spirits," has sought out many inventions. Satan knowing the truth, that a " house divided against itself - shall not stand," his first deception was, to bring in his damnable heresies ( Read 2 Pet. 2: 1- 3.), dividing the professed world. This he accomplished, as every honest individual must confess. For centuries he has held the ecclesiastical world in the thraldom of sectish dependence. But when the fullness of time came for the proclamation of the truth in its orig-inal purity, so clearly proving that the divided state was not by the direction of God, each sect began to excuse itself upon the ground that it was as good as any other sect; that they were not founded on the Word, yet they were an unavoidable evil, to suit the sinful conditions of man. The carnal mind not being subject to God, in-ventions must be produced with carnal laws congenial with the " old man's" wretched experience.. Each persuasion justifies her own sins by the sins of her sister sects, and justifies her sisters' sins by her own ungodly life of fornication. See Ezek. 16: 51. Each sect decried every other one— the kettle saying to the pot, " You are black; " the man in the mud condemning the man in the mire; the eye with a beam magnifying the other's mote. Such a state ' of affairs afforded grand opportunities for the holy , ministry to ex-pose the evils of division, and reveal the great gulf between carnal societies and the church of God. The impartial and intelli-gent world accepted the truth readily. When cold formality and variance among the different parties were revealed as the effects of carnality, Satan, finding himself uncovered and to save his work of many years, spewed out this vile spirit of communism. At the same time the beast and the false prophet began to cry, union, union; we must unite to oppose this reform, or our hope is lost. Leagues began to appear almost without number. Every-where that the everlasting gospel is taught, sectarians are ashamed to wrangle among themselves. This caused Satan to hit up-on the socialistic scheme. But says one, " Does not this prove that we are getting nearer together, and that there is more congeniality among us than in the past?" We answer, Yes, and a I had held meetings at a certain place, the result of which was a goodly numbel-lof souls saved, and of course they made their escape from sectism. On one occasion in our meeting the sectarian class- leader arose and said he was thankful I had come to that place, as they had hadsome trouble all along before I came with certain mem-bers; but since our meetings the trash had been taken out of their sect, since the which they had gotten along nicely with-out any opposition. To which I made reply as follows: I believe Mr. R s statement to be correct, when he says they get along- without opposition since you saints have come out of their confusion, for this reason: God says, Babylon will be possessed by moles and bats, and be a court for owls. See Isa. 2: 20 and 34: 13. These creatures, being naturally adapted to darkness, are hindered when coming in contact with light, their opposite element. God had some precious souls in the sect who allowed the light of heaven to shine out in their lives, and the owls, or false professors, who love darkness, were tor-mented by their light. But God has called out his elect, and the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in her; now darkness reigns supreme. Owls can now hold court and decide their cases in conformity to their own natures, as there is no light to confuse them. This is a just conclusion . in reference to the reason why the different sectish bodies seem to be becoming more congenial with each other; because utter night now spreads over all, without a star of heavenly glory. Socialism not seeming to do what the Devil desired, he donned another garb and went forth in just a little different form, calling his work union. Christian union is no where taught in all of God's word, but tnity is the principle feature in the church of Christ. Union is a gathering together of a number of bodies, - e- ach holding or retaining its own identity or sameness, but n unity each member interfuses and loses ts own identity by merging it with that of Him who is love. Hence, God did not ntend a union, but a unit. Eph. 4: 3, 13. This spirit of union on a false basis has go taken hold of the world that it was even displayed in the last political campaign. There is a movement on foot intended, it S said, for a great union, which we will explain as follows: If in one little village there were more sects than the people could well afford to support— let us say, 1 Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian, sup-posing the Methodists to have the lead in membership and to be better qualified to I pay a preacher a good sum, it is thought wise for the Presbyterians or Baptists, and perhaps both, to give way- and let the Methodists have the whole ground, and vice versa in other places. ( See tract, Babylon and What it Includes," page 54.) The prophets foresaw the coming of this evil spirit. " So two or three cities [ sects] wandered unto one city [ sect], to drink water; but they were not satisfied; yet have ye [ sectarians] not returned unto me, saith the Lord."— Amos 4: 8. Instead of forsaking the soul polluting and God- dishonoring institutions, and returning to the church of the firstborn from which they have separated them-selves, this vile spirit is gathering up all of the abominable doctrines of destruction, getting them consolidated as far as possi-ble, getting all spirits of devils cooperating with each other; a great company, mus-tered by Gog and Magog, are surrounding the plain of Armageddon. As they pass into the valley of Jehosha-phat, God Almighty himself renders the decision. See Joel 3 ,: 12. As they pass to the left, forced by the flaming presence of the Son of God, the poisoned darts of their own iniquity pierce their vitals, scattering their gore to the altars of hell, from which shall arise the smoke of their torment for-in Armageddon there is still a perfect calm, on the highway of holiness, drinking the waters that are drawn from above. The inhabitants of Megiddo, like the cedar of Lebanon, aspire toward the Sun of glo-ry, receiving his heavenly animation, it constituting their impassioned life emo-tion, and in the hands of God they become as Aaron's rod, swallowing up every discordant issue. To them every stone of offense becomes a stepping- stone by which they are pro-moted to a greater prosperity; or, like Jacob, they see heavenly visions from their bed of stone. The flinty rock of trial or persecution yields to them only the oil of rejoicing and sweetness of love. Dent. 32: 13. Every thorn that springs up with-in their terrestrial path, God transforms into a rose celestial. They book not for the cold charities of a heartless world, but bow continually at the shrine of unifying love, as upon the tables of their hearts is portrayed the counterpart of Him who trod the way before them. The demoralizing cancer of sectish con-fusion is not just seared over, but burnt out by the fire of God's wrathful judgments. The element of heaven is embodied in each trusting soul. Each pure heart cen-tered in Christ, by this means is furnished the principles of this cooperative inter-relation between God and his church. This slimy spirit of false union is an enemy intangible; therefore it is not by power nor by might, but by the Spirit _ of God that we overcome this inexorable devil. From Zion's summit we behold his every characteristic. With the eye of unity we see upon his visage Satanic scowls that look daggers of death. The cup he gives is dregged with the lees of hell, the which if once infused into the soul of man, causes such an intense deadness, in reference to real spirituality, that there is found no antidote. Nothing but a new creation that translates to the' glory of jezreel will deliver from the death grip of this awful power. Just what will be the next change in the costume of this spirit is not known. but be it remembered he has several patterns. Be ready; he will appear. Let all the saints of Armageddon have their swords furbished by much prayer and careful ex-amination. See that none of your peapons are carnal, but mighty through God. A still greater host of maddened imps are' gathering for a final conflict. Look well to your munition. Under the dusk of the fast sinking sun of time this earth will seem to be turned into hell itself. Every room in perdition will be empty and every imp will follow their prince out in the falling shades of night to make their final charge against the holy city, at which time fire descends from heaven in the person of Christ, the King of glory, who casts the dragon, beast, false prophets, and all the deceived into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. See Rev. 19: 20. But this is not yet. He comes again. Be ready. W. A. HAYNES. of him! How foolish it is for formal professors to expect to get the riches of God's kingdom, when they live most of the time in Satan's kingdom, serving the god of this world, wanting the sin and pleasure of the world, and yet trying to serve God. No wonder they have such a hard time and find no help or comfort in his service. The prayer meetings are dry and dull, and all devotional services are monotonous and lifeless. It is written, ' They that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth; for he seeketh such to worship him.' It is only as we have the Spirit of him that, we worship him. It is impossible to worship him with the spirit of the world. That is no worship at all; it is mere form and mockery. Many think that by going to a church and going through a form of worship, they are worshiping God, but it is no more worship to God than the heathen bowing before his idol. We must have the Spirit of God to worship God. Just so it is impossible to love God aright unless his love is " shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." Otherwise it will be with the carnal or fleshly love, with which we cannot love him aright. We must have the love from God and of God, in order to love him in the spirit. This accounts for the cold, dead, barren worship of formal professors, who have not been regenerated. They have not the Spirit of him who seeks to be worshiped. When we are partakers of his Spirit, he of himself seeks to worship him of whose spirit he is. It is that living Spirit that raised up Christ from the dead that is to dwell in us— the Spirit that giveth life. All this we find in him. The life we are seeking is in him. " For in him is life," and that life is eternal. The joy we are to seek is in him. It, too, is one of the n'pe fruits of the Spirit, which generated, matured, and ripened in him. The joy of the world is transient and fleeting and soon passeth away. The joy in him is eternal. In him we find health; " for as he is, so are we in this life." Our bodies, our health, and all are committed to him, and as we abide in him continually, he keeps us from sickness Psa. -. 101 just as he does from sin; for he says that he that abideth in him sinneth not. I jno. 3: 6. So then we see these things are only in him, and only ours as we abide in him. blessed resting- place, holy habitation! ° But we are still living in the world— but not of the world— and Satan is here, at times going about as a roaring lion, then again as an angel of light, and may take us unawares. So the provision is made that " if any man sin we have an advocate with the Father." And if an- y among you are sick, call the elders and let them pray, and join their faith IA. ith yours, and the united faith and prayers shall save the sick and the Lord shall raise hint up and if he have committed sins they shall be forgiven him. So let us enter in, leaving all sin and worldliness behind and so commit our all to him, into his keeping; for he says he will " keep it unto that day." Now what more can we ask? For now he says, " All things are yours, and ye are Christ's." What a mutual blessed exchange! Yes, now all things are yours. Whether the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours. All this blessed catalogue. What! All the world? All things present, and all things to come? Do I understand that heaven and all its glories and joys and even Jesus Christ himself are mine? Well, bless God! I accept him, and get all these things . besides. I accept the counsel in Rev. 3: 18. I throw off the filthy rags of sin and unrighteous-ness that do not cover my shame and nakedness, and put on the white raiment of holiness. I take the gold tried in the fire, like the treasure, " the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all he ha. th, and buyeth that field." Yes, other fields and gold outside of him sink into insignificance. They are impure and often take wings any fly away. philosophical reason can be given, which ever and ever. I will give by simply relating an i ncident ! After all the roar of Satan with his pro-occurring in the West. ET us see what we have in Christ: for it is written, " He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" Now we see that the hall things" promised are to be received with the gift of Christ So then we must first seek this Christ if we would have the riches in him. Aside from him we cannot get those things which are in him. Do we want life? It is in him. Do we want health? It is in him. Do we want comfort or joy or peace or happiness? All are in him, Then the shortest and quickest way to get the all things promised, is to get Christ. " For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye . are complete in him." How unwise then for us to think to get digious volumes of soul- destroying issues, any of the riches of his kingdom outside In Christ. Pra CONCORD, TENN. " And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns like ' gold." I " And he came and took the book ! lOut of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. And when he had / taken the book. the four beasts and I four and twenty elders fell down I before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of ! odors, which are the Prayers of the ! saints." The four beasts and four and twenty elders, represent the uni-versal host of the redeemed upon the earth. This is evident from the fact that every one of them had vials full of odors, which the Revelator tells us, represent the prayers of the saints; and who hath the prayers of a saint but he who himself is a saint? They also testfied that they were redeemed unto God by the blood of the Lamb, out of every kindred, and t tongue, and people, and nation ( Rev. t 5: 9), which is positive proof that they signify the children of God upon earth. The white raiment represents righteousness; the crowns, victory; d the gold, purity; the hook in the right hand of him that sat upon the t throne, the word of God; the Lamb, i Christ. esteerneth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and . he that cateth mot, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks." It is the eating of literal meat that is mentioned here, which in apostolic times was condemned by certain fanatic teachers. It was Jews and udaizers who maintained such doe-trines, owing to the fact that the eating of certain kinds of meat was forbidden in the law of Moses, which it was difficult for some to understand was abolished by the death of Christ. Read Col. 2: 14- 17. In verse three, of the chapter in question, Paul shows that the eating of meat is to be left to the option of the reader. The regarding of days, spoken of in this text, refers not to the keeping of a Sabbath as some have supposed, but to the observance of holidays, which hasbeen prevalent amongst all nations from time immemorial. The apostle seta it forth as a matter af conscience; that is, he does not cora- pu mand nor forbid it, but simply say; be " Let every man be fully persuaded an in his own mind." W. G., S. in a ar vi to th a lo a ye a WO from our friend Temperance, pro yoking our comrades to a trial of these great and lasting privileges. The door that should be closed against every element but that con ducive to goodness and temperance, humanity has opened to lustful solicitations; therefore the enemy readily enters the sacred sanctuary of the soul, to pollute and desecrate it with the worst sacrilege. Lust is the Devil's altar, where he offers up humanity as a burnt offering, the offering being consumed by the flames of passion and remorse. Such idolatry, sanctioned and aided by the influence of man, far exceeds the fires of Malech. While the nations are slumbering in the valley of ignorance and folly, they are inhaling the deadly scent from the plant of lust grown along the stream of pollution, and when they are awakened it seems that the prince of the power of the air has so polluted the very atmosphere that they who are not actually stagger-ing in some gross soul- destroying vice are walking as a somnambulist, oblivious to the great gulf on whose edge they are standing. As a nation, this demon is on our trail, the fangs of passion fasten upon us. We are becoming weaker; for each time this monster lays hold of us it draws a greater portion of our vital supply. There is only one remedy, and that is obtained through the merits of him who alone can extract the poison of sin and implant in its place the overcoming grace of God that brings to view the principles of vir-tue and goodness. RETHREN, the time is now that duty must be observed as the ordinance of heaven or decrees of justice demand that it should. Many places where we go to preach the glad tidings of full salvation, there is such an element of stupor it seems almost impossible to break over the dreadful sleepiness and un-concern and get people to acknowl-edge their duty to God. Then if they do manifest a desire to be obedient to the call to righteousness, when they come to the altar, it is often without genuine Bible convic-tion. While many seem to exert every power at their command to appro-priate the promises unto themselves, there is a spirit of indifference and fearful stupidity that is a great trial to the workers who labor with such. And here I will add, that to any one who is near the normal man in men-tality, with determination and corn-bativeness in proportion, when they see their privileges and duty and have a desire to gain the former and perform the latter, there is no diffi-culty but what is easily surmounted, and will vanish into utter insignifi-cance before a determined mind. This being true there is then a cause for such lamentable results. When I first began to discern this awful power at work I was some-what perplexed to ascertain just how to meet it. I would preach salvation with more ardency by the aid of God through much prayer; yet wit no great visible victory over th ungodly influence. At one place ascended the pulpit, allowing God t direct me. We cannot say that God does not want a home or two where the chil-dren of ministers may be cared for, but he does not want his ministers to become superintendents of homes and schools. God has called his ministers to preach the gospel. We have noticed that in every instance the schools and homes take an able evangelist out of the field. We ought at a glance to see that this is contrary to the will of the Lord. God's ministers are too few now. We ought every one of us to be actively engaged in the ministry of the Word, and praying God to send more laborers into his great harvest field, and not to be leaving the active work of the Lord, and becoming superintendents of schools and chil-dren's homes. No greater folly IV exhibited by the apostles when they decided after the crucifixion of our Lord to go back to their fishing nets. I believe the Lord moves me to ask the ministers, Who is going to do this running " to and fro"? Oh, dear ones! the old way, of ' going into all the world and preaching the gospel to every creature,' is far the best way to spread the gospel. It is probably very coin fortable to sit in our little children's borne or faith home, and we may perhaps lead a dozen souls to Christ in a whole year in this way, but this is not the way to enlighten the world. This entire world must be thoroughly evangelized before our- Savior comes in the great and final judgment. News from the Field. FLOATING BETHEL, SISTERSVILLE, W. VA., Feb. 23. DEAR BRETHREN: We are enjoy-ing the Lord and we are all blessed with good health. The Bethel has gone through another severe struggle with the ice and was badly twisted, damaging the roof so we will have to put a new roof on the meeting-house. Bros. H. A. Hoffman and L. A. Kauffman have joined us in the work here. A few souls are still being saved and some are escap-ing out of the sects. G. T. CLAYTON AND CO. ment from the general body, a score of preachers will in a short time be making calculations to take up the same line of work. So it has been in respect to divine healing homes, schools, children's homes, discussions, etc. The past year I have received a great many calls to come and help some brother in a discussion. Were I to respond to all these calls, I would get little done but discussing. I am called to preach the gospel. God has blessed some discussions of the past, but that line of work has been carried too far. I admonish all the Lord's ministers to refrain from challenging or accepting a challenge, if you do not feel able to defend the truth in that way. Some have gone through with discussions with which God was not glorified. We should be sure we have abilities before we attempt to stand up before the champion scripture twisters of Baby-lon. It is a lack of humility that causes men to take up a line of work which they have not abilities to per-form. " Let every man abide in the calling wherein he is called." In conclusion I wish to say, In some localities the children's home and school fever has raged so highly that some of the saints have con-ceived the idea that the public schools are very wicked institutions, and that they cannot raise their children for God while they are sending them to public schools. Some have even gone so far as to denounce the secu-lar governments as institutions of the Devil. Oh! be careful, brethren. " The powers that be are ordained of God."— Rom. II am fully conscious of the existence The public schools, while they of the old nature and conflict going have some disadvantages, have many advantages over a private school. And we ought not to think that we cannot raise our children for heaven, and send them to public schools. The character of the child depends more upon its home training than upon what it learns in school. In the public schools the children are only allowed to play an hour and a half in a day, in five days out of the week, and in cities and towns, where the children come home for their dinners, only a half- hour in a day. This of course is somewhat of an evil influence to work against, but a proper home training can overcome this and fortify them against such evil influences. We have heard a clamor for a chil-dren's home and school in localities where the brethren are scarcely able to defray the expenses of their camp meetings. Do the dear ones think the children, superintendent, and teach( r can subsist on the wind? Supposing they erect a home and school, what will be the outcome? Simply this: When the time for camp meeting arrives the brethren will not be able to meet the expenses, and the camp meeting will not be held. Can God be most glorified in this way? I do not say it would be wrong for saints to erect schoolhouses in local-ities where they have little or no school advantages, but elsewhere I believe their means is best applied to the spreading of the glorious gospel of Christ. Wm, G. SCHELL. I have read have done me immense good. The little bit of materialism that I, for my own convenience, got mixed up with Christianity has well nigh vanished. The two books so kindly sent to me are always before me, and I am convinced more than ever that the life of him who is crucified, dead, buried, and risen; that is, the life of a Christian is all faith. He finds in Jesus a perfect cure for both soul and body. When a few days ago I was read-ing your book entitled " Divine Heal-ing of Soul and Body," my faith was greatly strengthened as the evil one tried me sore. I had a severe at-tack of fever, but I got through it all safe. Jesus, the Great Physician, proved faithful. I laughed at the doctors and said, " Certainly medi-cines are not meant for the children of the almighty and all- loving God." Every one who has, read that book says it is all true. Jesus says, " My yoke is easy, and my burden is light." How few there are who know the real Christ! A European on reading one number of the GOSPEL TRUMPET said, " Oh there are many interesting things in it, but I do not like the letters telling of wonderful cures through naked faith in Jesus!" Oh, I wish he had known Jesus in re-ality! The " Secret of Salvation" is a storehouse of heavenly treasures. I am getting richer and richer day by day in its association. For six months we have been caused to pass through deep waters and dark hours, and toward the last the Devil tried to discourage us, telling us this life of trust was a failure. But, praise God, just then the voice of the Holy Spirit gently whispered in my ear, " If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?" I saw very dearly then and there that if I could not trust the Lord for earthly things, I could not trust him. to save my soul; and so I said " Lord, I will trust," and it was only a short time until deliver-ance came, beyond all I could ask or think, We now have a beautiful modern six- story and basement building for the mission work, right in the slums, and many souls are being saved. Praise God! Let every saint praise God; for surely it is in answer to your prayers. We have felt the power and effect of your prayers in Chicago. I cannot tell you more at this writing about the work, but I earnestly invite every one of God's true ministers and the saints of God who are interested in the work at Chicago to come if possible to the assembly meeting, and see what God is doing. BELOVED FAMILY OF Gore: The McLallen Corners assembly meet-ing was one of victory. The loving Lord took charge, and his melting Spirit took hold of hearts that - were burdened with the guilt of sin, and bound by Satan. A number found freedom to the pardoning of sin in the efficacious blood. Others were sanctified; and the healing touch was applied to the maladies of some afflicted bodies Fighters of the truth were won. The last night was a feast in washing the saints' feet and partaking of the bread and cup. God held us in this meeting with the fire of the Holy Spirit in the midst so that we could not attend the Tionesta assembly meeting. I have been doing my duty with all my understanding, working among sinners, in new fields. The Lord is manifesting his power in healing the sick. To God be all the glory. This is a time of refor-mation and every soul that comes to the Lord must be reformed. Truly God is moving in these last days and the Devil is raging, bat God is on the throne. We know and preach but one God, one Savior; one salva-tion, one Word, one people saved and living according to the Word, the church of God, of whom Jesus Christ is the head. God help his people to stand clear for Bible truth. I am now with the church at Carroll-ton. The work is slowly moving along here, at present, on account of so much opposition from false professors, as Babylon is beginning to die. We ought to obey God rather than men. This text shows us that the preach-ing of the Word is a great means of increasing our faith. As a constant dropping of water upon a rock grad-ually wears it away, so the contiu-ous declaring of the truth gradually begets faith • in the heart of the hearer. Therefore, to advance, as a church, to the apostolic standard of faith, the Word must be preached as it was in apostolic times. All the blessed promises must be declare and over, until they become so stamped in the hearts arid minds of all the members of the church, that, the exercising cif faith in God becomes a spontaneous action. We have not in the past fully preached the Word on all points. We have faithfully held up the Unity and Purity of the ch urch, Spiritual Birth, Sauctification, A Sinless Life, etc.; but Faith, Assur-ance, Healing, Miracles, etc,, which subjects - seessential to an iecrease of faith, nee ' Lye Pot placed so much stress ution. We ham:, la lied tk: o much upon the prooker time for God to advance his church in faith, and not enough upon the preachiog of the Word. The time for God to his word is when man fully meets the conditions. But how can the people, meet the conditions God requires, except they first be made acqux t, d with those conditions? ed how they become acquaiotcd that's requirements except the Word be faithfully preached on all points. " Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as do ves."— Matt. to: 16. " He that winneth souls is wise."- Prov. II: 30. How necessary it is for the children of God to get wisdom from God, that , they may win souls to Christ, and how few have the nec-essary wisdom! The Word says, " The children of this world [ sinners] are in their generation wiser than the children of light [ children of God]." The children of this world are striv-ing for wealth, knowledge, and honor. They conduct their business in such an energetic way, that they gain what they are striving for. They labor, strive, plan, and watch closely in order to gain. If all that profess to be God's chil-dren would strive as hard to do God's will as the children of this world do to accomplish their ends, they would be more spiritual and there would be more souls won to Christ. The ministers would visit and pray with more families, put forth more effort to scatter holy lit-erature among the lost, and try harder to keep down strife while talking to and dealing with souls. Other saints would do more for the rescue of the perishing, by send-ing of their means to help publish literature, and to help the ministers, so they could be constantly preach-ing and working in the gospel field, and would not have to stop to work for means to support their families. Missions and other enterprises could be easily carried on, and there would be more of them. All God's chil-dren should understand that they should all work in this common cause, and that there should not be any selfishness among us, and that the most important thing is, to win souls to Christ. Now the question is, will you let him heal you? Well, says one, he can heal me if he wants to do so. No, that will not answer on your part. You dare not be so careless about it. A thing that is worth having is worth asking for; and what the Lord has promised his children, he is willing to give, and by so doing will not decrease his wealth nor power. Do you not know that• you are promised health and strength, peace and happiness, through the atone-ment? Then why not have what be-longs to you? He is the very same Jesus as in days of old. He can do more for you in an instant than doctors can in years. Do you remember the woman ( Mark 5: 26) who for twelve years " had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse"? She came with such confidence that she said, " If I may but touch his clothes, I shall be whole." And as she pro-ceeded to act out her faith, the work was done according to her belief, and the desire of her heart. The faint- hearted sufferer exclaims, " Oh, if Jesus was only here now, I would touch the he m of his garment and be healed." Listen to his words spoken after he was risen from the tomb: dAll politer is given unto me in heaven and in earth." And he speaks to you as he did to those of old: " According to your faith so be it unto you." " As thou hast be-lieved," etc. " All things are possible to him that believeth." Now the question comes: Will you believe? ill you believe that he is able to heal you? and that he is willing to heal you? that he really desires to heal you? that he desires and wills to heal you now? and that he does do it now? If so, faith says, It is done; and you can shout the victory, that he does do it now. Our faith can reach unto him with a touch that will cause virtue to go forth. Praise his name! People who are always putting off until some future time for their faith to grasp the promises of the Lord, are de-prived of the rich blessings of his storehouse, which they might other-wise be enjoying, if they would only accept their privileges. There are those who are depend-ing entirely upon the faith of others, for their healing, when God wants them to look to him alone. When anyone comes in confidence to the Lord, whether alone, or with some one else, even though faith may be weak, yet God will supply the need, and send forth his power according to the confidence manifest. Be sure you are in line with his word as far as it is possible for you to be, and as far as you know, and that your con-secration measures to the whole will of God, and he will not withhold his blessings for soul and body. Still you ask, " Will the Lord heal me?" The answer comes, Yes! " If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth."— Mark 9: 23 Building the Breach( s. and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God."- 2 Jno. 9. Teaching that the resurrection is past is another error, and will steal away the faith and cause ship-wreck. Read 2 Tim. 2: r8. Sprink-ling for baptism is one breach which was made by the direful teaching of Romanism, and carries with it the spirit of division, sectism. Teaching we are saved in the act of immersion, or that we have to be immersed to get the remission of sins, is one of the horrid delusions of Satan to steal souls from the truth of God. Just think, make people believe that water takes away their sins, when there is no such doctrine taught in the Bible! Make people believe they are on the inside of the walls of the city, when they are camped outside in the wilderness, an easy prey to the wild beasts! Oh, what deception! Many inauspicious renderings have been made doubtless, some from ignorance and some from incongruous motives originating from the evil spirit, to justify them-selves in their opinions; which have made breaches in the wall of salva-tion, and many sects, dividing God's people. Thus many souls have been captured into the meshes of satanic doctrines, but God in bringing his church back to the state of the morn-ing light, is repairing the breaches in the plan of salvation, exposing the errors, and revealing the truth of his precious Word. G. R. ACHOR. Wisdom. SDOM is the principal thing; therefore get wis-dom."— Prov. 4: 7. We find in the Word that there are two kinds of wisdom spoken of; viz., wisdom of God, and the wisdom of this world. The children of this world are exercising their wisdom in gaining knowledge of, and the wealth of, this world. By so doing, they neglect to get wisdom from God, and lose their souls. Wisdom is profitable to direct, and we need wisdom from God so we can be directed aright. In order to get wisdom from God, men must cease from their own wisdom - cease to think they are wise. See Prov. 23: 4, • " The wisdom of their wise men 3shall perish."— Isa. 29: 14. We should seek for wisdom that does not perish. " The wise men are ashamed they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the Lord; and what wisdom is in them?" — Jer. 8: 9. By neglecting to obey the word of God, they do not get wisdom from God, and are left with only their own wisdom. The wis-dom of this world is foolishness with God; for he taketh the wise in their own craftiness. " My speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. How-beit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory.."-- r' Cor. 2: 4- 7. Also verse 13—" Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth." One reason why there is so much darkness among the people is be-cause they have heard man's wisdom, or theories taught, instead of what the Holy Ghost teacheth.' When the word of God is taken from the people, they go into darkness and superstition. " Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool [ cease to think he is wise, or from worldly wisdom], that he may be wise [ get wisdom from God]; for the wisdom of this world is foolish: ness with God."— i Cor. 3: 18,- 19 refo.. rimation, I did, not hear a set lin: on ovine heahnje. So will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all plades wbert , they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. Eze. 34: 12. Jer. 32: 39. Let us enter in and abide in his holy habitation. Amen. JENNIE M. BYERS. Testimonies. 1 ■ ••• ■ ••• 79.. nnTrirwrs, elry t - AMAZONIA, MO. But man, becoming alienated from the " Father of spirits" has sought out many inventions. Satan knowing the truth, that a " house divided against itself - shall not stand" his first deception was, to bring in his damnable heresies ( Read 2 Pet. ( See tract, Babylon and What it Includes" page 54.) The prophets foresaw the coming of this evil spirit. " For in him is life" and that life is eternal. Accept it: will you? and you shall live. Or reject it, and perish in the grave dug by your own folly. Which is yours? decide now. W. A. HAYNES. All I had previousi thought vanished, and as a scriptur recorded in isa. 46: 8 came forcibl to mind, d preached on good man ners and etiquette, before a respec would be had for the worship o God; another sermon to men an boys, on secret sins of society; an yet another to those in the marrie relation, showing by the word o God their relation to each other At another place I was compelled t preach on soap and water, byfor he principles of salvation woul ake any effect. It needs much spiritual discern ment to ascertain the actual need of the slumbering world. I hay ound by a close investigation in ivers ways, that the effects, or such wretched conditions, are clearly raced to the cause, which is almos nvariably the spirit of licentiousnes in both the married and single rela-tion. And at the very time that this spirit is discerned by all the pure, nd dealt with according to wisdom his reformation is going to take nother grand leap for grander and ore powerful heights in the glory f divine power. Though the dark clouds of des-jects, and " go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." We cannot say that God does not want a home or two where the chil-dren of ministers may be cared for, but he does not want his ministers to become superintendents of homes and schools. In apostolic times the i ■ reachers did not have time even to distrihnto amongst the poor what had been contributed for that plIndOSe ( See Acts 6 ), and how can we whom d has called to the great work rescuing souls, forsake the cimrge God has given us, and bgin to erect children's homes and achools? for more of that apostolic - 7e- al ami love for souls that will preacners out of their cause them to rush to the res(,. ct the lost, even at the ctr1; t s: tcri! te- - I and great suffering! When a few days ago I was read-ing your book entitled " Divine Heal-ing of Soul and Body" my faith was greatly strengthened as the evil one tried me sore. But, praise God, just then the voice of the Holy Spirit gently whispered in my ear, " If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?" I saw very dearly then and there that if I could not trust the Lord for earthly things, I could not trust him. to save my soul; and so I said " Lord, I will trust" and it was only a short time until deliver-ance came, beyond all I could ask or think, We now have a beautiful modern six- story and basement building for the mission work, right in the slums, and many souls are being saved. " And thou shalt be called th epairer of the breach." The breach which has been made in the wall of the Zion of God ( the church) fo undreds of years, has made it dis-strous to the people who have been herein; insomuch that the enemy ad easy access to them. Conse-uently it was more difficult for hem to live as God would be pleased; or the walls were broken, affording ut little protection. The wall is alvation. " In that day shall this ong be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; salvation will od appoint for walls and bulwarks." — Isa. 26: 1. See Isa. 60: 18. Hence, e see the breaches pertain to salva-on. They ccnsist in teaching for octrine the traditions of men. • Those errors began to creep in very arly in the history of the church. yen in the apostles' days they had rebuke them. YEoLuTr Asa WveIdL SsiOstNer. tnaeg Divine Healing. Will the Lord Heal Me? i‘ tXF the Lord has healed others ' 6' fhifX why will he not heal me?" has been the expression of many poor weak suffering people, whose sickness has brought with it dis-couragements and distress, until the future is only pictured before them as a life of pain and misery. But, so many have not heard that the Lord has the same power and willingness to heal now, that he had in olden times. Take courage, dear suffering ones, it is his will to heal you. And if you were to come to him with such confidence as did the leper ( Matt. 8: t), believing his ability, he would say: " I will." He is willing to heal you. The faint- hearted sufferer exclaims, " Oh, if Jesus was only here now, I would touch the he m of his garment and be healed." Listen to his words spoken after he was risen from the tomb: dAll politer is given unto me in heaven and in earth." And he speaks to you as he did to those of old: " According to your faith so be it unto you." " As thou hast be-lieved" etc.
