T U E S DAY, FEB R U A R Y 29, 2000 by Jessica Schaab Although the fountains remained dormant, the campus hosted many important guests this past weekend. Younger siblings, cousins, friends, and even a few parents came from all over to visit current DePauw students and to get a feel of what college life iB really like. In order to make the weekend as enjoyable as possible, Union Board sponsored a number of activities rlesigned to entertain guests of all ages. Saturday, senior Jill Skogheim, vp of finance for Union Board, and sophomore Jane Bankhurst, president of Union Board, presided over the Little Sibs' Carnival, held in the main gym of the Lilly Center. Among the activities provided were video karaoke, laser tag and "big hands" boxing. According to Skogheim, the event went really well. She noted the large turnout among people of all ages, which she attributed to the range of activities available. "Everyone is finding something to do," Skogheim said. One of the more popular activi ties Saturday was video karaoke. Participants could choose from songs ranging from Elvis to the Backstreet Boys, select a computerized background, and design a costume for their performances. After dancing and Iip-synching to the song of their choice, the performers received a free video of the production. Sophomore Andrea Clark said of her sister, Chelsea, age 10, "She makes videos at home all the time, so this was right up her alley." Chelsea sang Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time." When asked how the carnival differed from those provided in the past, Bankhurst responded, "It is bigger now than it was last year, and there is more variety this year than in past years." "I always get positive feedback from everyone who comes to Little Sibs' Weekend," Bankhurst said. "And [the carnival] is nice too because it's for all ages."
